"We welcome you here gladly, on this our festal day,As when with solemn song and rite, in this the month of May;We're gathered now to plant the vine to keep alive our name;The ivy green we plant with care-- an emblem of our aim.
Kind Fate, watch o'er with tender care! Protect its tender life,When blighting storm doth threaten to destroy with cruel strive!To you, Ivy! our dearest hopes we gladly do in trust.To bear them ever upward, to be your aim it must.
And as upon these stately walls you climb in days to come, Tell them fondly of the Class of Nineteen Hundred and One,Whisper to our Alma Mater, dear, of those who brought you here,--Words of the deepest love for us, though we're no longer near.
