Originally from Maine, I went to graduate school in Montana. As much as I loved the mountains of the west, I missed the ocean, and returned to Maine upon completion of my graduate degree
. From there, I taught high school chemistry (and other sciences as needed!) in two different rural Maine high schools. During this time,
I began teaching part time at USM, eventually leading to a position as
a full time lecturer in the Chem department. I love teaching at USM, partly because I, too, was a first generation college student from rural Maine once upon a time, just like so many of our students.
