Gabrielle Begos
My Consulting Philosophy
My belief is that writing should never be forced. First and foremost, it is a method of creative expression and a vessel for communication through the voice of the writer and only the writer. Whether it’s a scientific report, an analysis of a short story, or a comparison between two works, the spectacle of the piece itself comes from the words and the meaning that the writer gives them. There is nothing to writing except curiosity, imagination, and individuality.
Hi, there!
Welcome to my website! My name is Gabrielle Begos and I am a third-year Biomedical Engineering student at the University of Maine.
Below, you can find links to my consulting philosophy and resume. In the navigation bar to the left, I have pages that house my STEM Writing, Honors Writing, and Writing Center Studies. You can also find a link to book appointments and my nondiscrimination statements.
Check out some of the pieces I have from various STEM and Honors classes to see what my writing is like and how I have commented on them. If you are more curious with how writing consulting will look, take a look at some of my Writing Center studies! They will give you more insight onto what practices I use as a writer and writing consultant. I also encourage anyone taking a class with a lab this semester to take a look at my Lab Report Outline in my STEM Writing tab! This is a document I created to make writing a lab report a little less daunting.
More About Me:
This is my first semester as a writing consultant for the Writing Center at UMaine. Last semester I was enrolled in an internship program, ENG 395, in order to prepare for this position. Although I am an engineering major, I have always loved writing and reading. I consider my writing intensive Honors classes my "fun" classes, but don't tell my Biomed professor!
At the Writing Center I am looking forward to helping students strengthen their writing skills , especially in STEM related writing. I have a lot of experience writing in the STEM discipline as well as in the Honors College.
In my free time I love to surf at Higgins Beach, hike, and read!
