本實驗室研究主題為流程最佳化與管理科學的相關議題，針對如何設計有效率及有效能的流程，包含物品與資料的儲存、運送、人力以及相關資訊的整體考量，整合流程中不同的參與者，如上游供應商、製造商，以及下游零售商等，因應顧客所需，應用數學最佳化模式與管理科學手法，加以規劃、執行與管制。使用的研究方法與相關工具，包括資訊系統分析與設計，以及數學模式應用如網路規劃與隨機性模式、資料採礦分析、系統模擬、啟發式搜尋、以及人工智慧演算法。
The system design and optimization laboratory aims to provide a state-of-the-art environment for students to access and evaluate system designs with physical and digital processes based on real-world scenarios; and develop solutions using the latest optimization approaches, including mathematical modeling, simulation techniques, heuristic searching algorithms, and artificial intelligence.
