This week focuses on the Dimension of Belonging “Needed.” “To be needed involves being valued by others and considered an indispensable member of the community” (Carter & Biggs, 2021).
Have you ever been part of a group that didn’t recognize your unique talents and strengths? How did it feel to be a part of that group? An important piece of having a sense of belonging in a community is the feeling of being valued and needed for your unique strengths. This week, you will read about what it means to be needed. You will also watch a video about Kate, a young woman with Down Syndrome. Through this video, you will see how Kate is an important part of the fabric of her school’s community.
