Friendships are important and necessary parts of our lives. Every student needs opportunities to make friends and belong in their school. Yet, friendships can be rare for students with disabilities. One reason that it can be hard for students with disabilities to make friends is that often they are not in the same classes or spaces as other students. That is why Peer to Peer is so important, to ensure all students have the opportunity to connect.
This week you will explore the Dimension of Belonging “Befriended.” You will also listen to a TED Talk by Daniel Wendler who is autistic and talks about how it was difficult for him to make friends when he was growing up.
