In Semester One, you learned that Peer to Peer is a “Participation Model” and not a “Helping Model.” That is, students with disabilities do not need more helpers or people telling them what to do in their lives. Instead students with disabilities need the opportunity to make social connections that can lead to true, authentic friendship just like everyone else!
Creating a Participation Model is one of the Pillars of Peer to Peer Programming. The Pillars are ways to run a Peer to Peer program that make the program strong and high quality. This week, you will learn about all of the Pillars of Peer to Peer Programming.
