Have you ever been part of a group but you felt more like an observer? Consider this scenario. You are a member of a basketball team, but you have to sit on the bench every game for the entire game. You are never given the opportunity to actually play and you only get to watch your friends play without you. How might that make you feel?
This week you will learn about the sixth Dimension of Belonging, “Involved”. “To be involved is to be actively engaged with and alongside peers in shared learning and common goals” (Carter & Biggs, 2021). To feel a sense of belonging in a classroom, it is not enough to simply be present in the classroom, there is also a need to be involved.
