According to the PACER Center (2023b), almost 75% of students with disabilities experience bullying. Disabled students are bullied at a rate of 2 to 3 times more than their peers without disabilities. Peer Supports (like you!) can have a positive, lasting impact by taking action when you witness bullying. The PACER Center (2023a) suggests 5 ways that you can address bullying as a student:
Be available for conversation
Respond with intentional acts of kindness, acceptance, and inclusion
Redirect the situation
Talk with an adult
Encourage others to come together against bullying and unite for kindness, acceptance, and inclusion
You will learn more about these strategies in this week’s videos and article.
