Welcome to English 9 at University High School!

Hello, new English 9 students and parents! Please take time to watch the video below (together if possible!) sometime soon. It's just a 15-minute welcome and introduction to some basics about what to expect this year. It also just might alleviate some stress about what is to come.

Welcome Video

In the first week, we're going to get to know each other pretty well! That said, here are some things to know about Mrs. Hill! Can't wait to find out about you too!!

*I've been teaching at UHS for 21 years! (My goodness, how am I that OLD?!)

*I love...is there something stronger than love?... If so, I [insert stronger verb here] coffee!

*Dogs-vs-Cats? Totally dogs! I do love all critters though!

*I have 2 kids (Aubrey--Senior at UHS, Braeden--Sophomore at UHS)

*I've been married to my high-school sweetheart for 22 years [insert "awwwwww" here].

*I have TONS of hobbies: piano, singing, cross-stitching, martial arts, hiking, board/card games, puzzles, and more!

*My favorite color changes by the day...today it's navy blue.

*I consider myself an extrovert and I LOVE people.

*I love all foods (except walnuts and pecans...they tried to kill me once and I've never forgiven them!).

*I'm a total literature nerd and I'm proud of my nerdiness.

*I have a weakness for cute, snarky, t-shirts about books and teaching.

*My dog, Stella, is one of the UHS therapy dogs and comes to work with me sometimes to serve our students.

*I don't consider myself "tech-y" but I am AMAZED at how much the last few years have taught me!

*I can't wait to meet you all! 😊

Below you will find a roadmap for where I hope to be with our students through the course this school year. Please remember that we are in an ever-changing climate of education and that based on the needs of my students, the plans of our school site, and the plans of the state of California, the roadmap below may change drastically through the course of the semester. Thank you SO VERY MUCH for your support, your compassion, and your patience as we continue to learn together through unprecedented circumstances. Together, WE ARE U.H.S.!
