GD 41: Typography

Students design an 11” x 17” poster that celebrates and illustrates a chosen typeface. 

The poster will highlight the history and purpose of the typeface. The poster should communicate what makes your font unique. 

Students create a typography conference poster for an upcoming event. This event, as the project title describes, is a type conference or a design conference with typography as the main emphasis. 

The poster illustrates and clearly describes the theme for the event. 

The poster explores hierarchy, contrast, balance, negative and positive space, repetition, and color scheme. 

This project is designed to provide a focused exploration of sign painting. 

By creating sign paintings, students gain valuable experience in applying traditional sign painting techniques and visual communication. 

The project focuses on exploring layout, hierarchy, color, and various lettering styles.

Students use letters and symbols of a typeface of their choice to illustrate their face.

They take into consideration the positive and negative space, size, scale, and weight of a typeface to generate your portrait.
