The first page of the file upload step contains instructions for first submissions, revised submissions, and first look.
First submission: you are submitting a manuscript that has not been submitted to ICB before.
Revised submission: You are submitting a revised manuscript after peer review.
First Look: you are submitting an accepted manuscript so it can go into production.
You can upload up files in batches of up to three files per upload round. To initiate an upload, choose file destination and select the file to be uploaded.
Designate the file containing the text of your manuscript as the "main document".
You will need to upload each figure and each table as a separate file.
Whenever you indicate that a file is a figure or a table, a textbox will appear asking you to enter the figure legend or table caption. If your caption contains a hyperlink, you can share the link in the box "Link text".
When you press 'upload selected files', ICB will start uploading your files. This can take a surprisingly long time for large files.
Files that have been uploaded successfully will appear above the section where you can select the next batch of three files for uploading.
Order: The window will allow you to adjust the order in which the files will appear in the pdf that the uploader will create from the 'main document' and all figures and tables. Typically, the 'main document' appears first (order '1'). Please adjust the order number of the files for figures and tables to reflect the order in which you would like them to appear in the pdf version of your manuscript.
Actions: You can choose actions, such as 'delete' to remove files.
If you need to upload additional files, you can do so in the 'File Upload' section at the bottom of the window.
