Reflections

Where I was.

I strongly disliked online teaching, and I did not see myself engaging it unless forced.

Where I am.

I have learned some skills that makes me more excited to consider teaching an online class.

Where I am going.

I am looking forward to testing some of my skills and create exciting and useful online content for my students.

Liquid Syllabus

My liquid syllabus is meant to create a welcoming introduction to the students, and it includes much of the information already share in the syllabus. It is not however meant to replace the class syllabus.

Course Card

The course card is meant to provide a simple and appealing summary of the course (i.e., human development across the lifespan).

Homepage

The homepage is meant to feel warm and welcoming, and it should also be easy to follow. It includes the course card, materials for the first week, the instructor's contact information, and the bumper video.

Getting to know you survey

The getting to know you survey is a simple survey that is set up on Canvas, and it is meant to help the instructor connect with the students more effectively.

Ice Breaker or Wisdom Wall

I created a wisdom wall to allow students to share their experiences and inspire each other.

Bumper Video

My bumper video was meant to help the students stay motivated during the last weeks of the semester, and it is a reminder about the remaining deadline in the class. I suggested that the students view this on 2X speed.

Micro-lecture

The micro-lecture will be useful for students who want to go above and beyond and engage in research projects and data analysis related to development of adolescents and young adults.
