Aztec Block was designed to be a display typeface. The design draws inspiration from the ancient art of Mexico, particularly pre- Columbian designs found in pyramid structures, carvings, and illustrations. Its blocky appearance with rounded corners represents the solidity of the ancient architecture of Indigenous communities of Mexico. The simplified lines capture the essence of intricate carvings. By employing clean lines instead of complex shapes, the typeface achieves a balance between representing ancient Mexican art and maintaining a modern and minimalistic aesthetic.
