Teachers celebrate with pizza from Mrs. Beasley
Our teachers were celebrated with pizza, pop, salad, and cookies courtesy of our PTA President, Mrs. Nancy Beasley. During their lunch time, teachers were served their food and given encouraging words from our PTA President. We appreciate our amazing teachers here at Schoolfield! It may sound cheesy, but no matter how you slice it, Schoolfield has the best teachers!
Middle School Sports updates
This week, our middle school athletes competed in several games and matches.
Danville Middle School Volleyball had their first game on Tuesday against Martinsville Middle School. The Eagles dropped both games 25-7 and 25-16. My'anna Wilson had a stand out performance with 9 aces.
Boys Cross Country competed with 7 other schools and 85 runners. Colton Underwood led the way for the middle school team. Jonesha Wilkins place 3rd out of 70 middle and high school runners.
Danville Middle School Football beat the Laurel Park Lancers 56-8 on Wednesday.

Ultimate Frisbee at Westwood
Ms. Ellis and Coach Perdue's PE Classes at Westwood participated in Ultimate Frisbee this week, and students are competing in small games!
Klondikes for Schoolfield teachers from Norfolk State University
What would teachers do for a Klondike bar? Teachers smiled brightly when they were given a sweet treat this week. Norfolk State University sponsored Schoolfield this week by providing Klondike treats. Teachers enjoyed this sweet treat to end the week. Norfolk State wanted to build partnerships with teachers to show them appreciation and provide additional information about further educational opportunities.

On Thursday, the Royal Family announce the passing of Queen Elizabeth II. Each year, Mr. Wheeler's class at Bonner learns about the queen and celebrates her birthday.

Gardening at Gibson
Mrs. Hogan's Second Grade class at Gibson got to work with the school's Master Gardener, Mr. Holley! The second grade students helped Mr. Holley plant begonias to help beautify the school's entrance.
At Westwood, Mrs. Bartee's students are finishing reading their library books. They will then write book reports to share with the class.
Mr. Smith instructs Mrs. Bartee's students on proper writing techniques as Ms. Johnson assists. Students are engaged!
Fun in art at Schoolfield
Students at Schoolfield are kicking off the year with Awesome Art activities! Our wonderful art teacher, Ms. Ouzts, incorporates our school improvement goals into her daily art lessons. The project below involves students reading the book, The Dot, by Peter H. Reynolds. Students practiced reading comprehension in art while visualizing themselves as Vashti's character by making a mark and seeing where it takes them. Students' “dots” are displayed in the hallway for all students, parents, and visitors to see.
