Civil Rights Icon Attends School Board Meeting!

Civil Rights leader and icon Bishop Lawrence G. Campbell Sr., Pastor of Bibleway Cathedral, attended the school board meeting held on September 5th. He, along with representatives from History United, presented his book, 1963: A Turning Point in Civil Rights, to all DPS principals. The books will be placed in every school library. Big thanks to History United for making this moment possible!

Gibson has elected their slate of officers for the 2019-2020 school year. President is 5th grader JaNiyah Hill, Vice President is 3rd grader Ta'Nija Ross, Secretary is 5th grader Lanauta Gray, and Treasurer is 5th grader Codi Covington.

Miller Earns GED

Meet ACEC's most recent GED Graduate Dont'a Miller. Dont'a has an appointment tomorrow afternoon with the TRIO program at DCC. TRIO is a grant funded program that offers transfer assistance to future DCC students. We are so proud of Dont'a and wish him much success in his next chapter.

Community 500 Impact Project Application Now Being Accepted!

Middle Border Forward believes it doesn't take a title or a lot of money to make a positive impact where you live. The Community 500 Impact Project Sponsorship is their chance to prove it!

By providing technical assistance and financial support (up to $500), this initiative allows YOU to create change in YOUR community. And, since this is not a grant, applicants do not need to be affiliated with a group or organization.

Ethan Pannell, a 2018 GWHS graduate, is now an Airborne Ranger! He is responsible for leading squad operations, engaging the enemy in close combat, conducting airborne/air assault operations, rescuing hostages, and more.

47th College Fair Scheduled!

Come out to the 47th Annual College Fair on Tuesday, September 10th from 5:30-7:00PM at the Institute for Advanced Learning and Research! Hosted by the GWHS Guidance Department, this event will give students of all grade levels the opportunity to meet with college representatives and scholarship organizations from around the region.
