DonorsChoose.org connects teachers in high-need communities with donors who want to help. Click the link to learn more about getting your special projects funded. You can also check out their Facebook page at DonorsChoose.org. I recently chatted with a vendor who went on this site while we were meeting and funded a Bonner request for $300. It works! If you pull up projects by zip code (24540 and 24541), there are currently five (5) DPS projects that have been partially funded. Those requests have come from Woodrow Wilson, Galileo, Gibson, and Park Avenue. I hope this tool works for you!
During the month of August, the Danville Fire Department (DFD), conducted their “Fill The Truck” Campaign by collecting school supplies from the community for Danville Public Schools. Virginia Rules is Virginia’s state-specific law-related education program for middle and high school students. The purpose of Virginia Rules is to educate young Virginians about Virginia laws and help them develop skills needed to make sound decisions, to avoid breaking laws, and to become active citizens of their schools and communities.
The English as a Second Language (ESL) and the Learning Instruction Education Program (LIEP) Departments held a Back-to-School Meet and Greet on August 28, 2019. The event featured a trolley ride for teachers and advisory board members to visit our ESL students and families.
