Body Planes lesson at GWHS
Lisa Argyrakis' 4th block Introduction to Health and Medical Sciences class used gummy bears to replicate the human body while studying body planes. In the photo, Aundrea Tucker was able to slice her gummy bears into sagittal plane, frontal plane, and transverse plane. This was a great hands-on activity to introduce not only new vocabulary words but also allow students to replicate what these body planes look like.

Last year, the employees of Danville Public Schools raised $13,418 for the United Way! Our goal for the 2021-2022 campaign is $14,760, which is roughly a 10% increase over last year's campaign. The United Way plays a vital role in helping to improve lives in our community, and they need our help now more than ever, as the effects of COVID-19 reach across our entire community. Employees, please check your email for more details on how to contribute. Public Information Officer Lanie Davis sent out the information via email on Tuesday, September 28.
Jessica McCray's class at Johnson has been learning place value and tens and ones, so they created place value scarecrows for fall! The scarecrow's straw hair is made out of tens, and ones were placed for decoration.

The Transition Stop is a one-stop, retail style store created by a partnership between Danville Public Schools and the United Way of Danville-Pittsylvania County. Thanks to a $25,000 grant from the Danville Regional Foundation, the store has been supplying clothing, school supplies, sundries and laundry services to our students. If you would like to donate, the School Board Office will have boxes in the lobby until Winter Break. The graphic to the right shows the needs of the Transition Stop at this time.
