Book or Treat at Gibson
On Thursday, October 27, 2022, from 4:30 - 6:30 P.M, Gibson Elementary’s faculty and staff welcomed students and their families to return for an evening of spooktacular Halloween fun and activities.
As families walked up to the main entrance of the school, their students were greeted with gift bags filled with high-interest books and handouts filled with evidence-based reading strategies to improve students’ reading comprehension. After receiving their gift bags, families were then able to enjoy popcorn and snow cones provided by Gibson faculty and staff, dance to the ghoulish grooves from the sound system, collect all kinds of candy and treats donated and distributed by the good people from God’s Final Call & Warning, and then stroll through the car rider loop to visit grade level teams who wore costumes and decorated their cars so children could collect even more candy and treats donated by our fabulous Gibson parents to cap the night off with a real Trunk or Treat experience.
The entire event was a wonderful blend of school, community, family, and fun. The faculty and staff of Gibson Elementary School thank Keisha Averett, member of the DPS school board, Mr. Poteat, parent and business owner, students, and parents for joining us and making this event such a success. We are truly grateful for all the support!
