DPS was one of 15 school divisions across the state that received this award presented by No Kid Hungry. This is the second year DPS received the award.
The award celebrates VA school divisions that have gone above and beyond by operating all available federal child nutrition programs and achieving exceptional participation in the school breakfast program.
See below for the full release or go to our Facebook page. Check out the story on WSET also. Kudos to Phillip Gardner, Director of Child Nutrition, and his amazing Child Nutrition Staff who work so hard every day to make sure no kid goes hungry!

4th graders at E.A. Gibson visited Jamestown on November 1st. The students went on three tours while there (James Fort Tour, First Africans Tour, Guided Archaearium Tour) and participated in two interactive exhibits (Ed Shed and the Dig Box).
For many of the students it was their first time on a boat (ferry). The students learned about life in Jamestown and how those living there learned to survive in the new world.
