The DPS maintenance crew decided to join Park Avenue Elementary School to help support their Trunk or Treat event this week. Maintenance staff will be decorating one of the trucks and the custodial staff will be giving out the candy that the Maintenance guy's brought in.
Because of your generous donations, DPS has exceeded its goal of $17,000 this campaign year! As of today, DPS employees have given a total of $17, 314! That is a 13.9% increase in giving over last year. It is not too late to give. Congratulations!!!!
US Youth Soccer TOPSoccer is a community-based training program for all athletes with intellectual, emotional, and or physical disabilities. The program strives to provide soccer opportunities for players to develop at their own pace in a safe, fun, and supportive / inclusive environment. Anyone can be a BUDDY to assist students with special needs as they have the opportunity to play soccer. It is such a rewarding experience! Our students volunteer both in the fall and spring seasons giving up their Saturday mornings to be a BUDDY!
In September 2019, the DPS Education Foundation posted that it had received a personal donation of $5,000 from Tiffany Harrison, a 1993 GWHS alum now living in Seattle. Mrs. Harrison, a CFO for The Boeing Company, made the generous donation to the Transition Stop, a one-stop "shop" for students who are absent from school because they lack basic life essentials.
Well, the story gets even better. In honor of Tiffany Harrison and Boeing employees, Boeing matched Mrs. Harrison's donation for a total contribution of $10,000 for the Transition Stop.
Stay tuned for an upcoming news release about the Transition Stop. Mrs. Harrison is pictured below. #partnershipsmatter #MadeInDPS
No canned food for our kids! Child Nutrition staff at Grove Park Preschool were hard at work shuckin' 4 cases of fresh corn this week. I was lucky enough to eat a piece and that corn was "off the chain" as the millennials would say. Sweet and buttery! Looks like the kids loved it too.

It was an extremely successful event with a Big Shoutout to Mr. Jordan Dorsey (8th grade teacher) and his team of students who spent multiple days after school to prepare. The staff and students at Westwood Middle School are simply the best! Go TIGERS!!! UPDATE: On October 30th, the team defeated Halifax 26 - 8 to become Piedmont District Champions! #EaglePride
Administrators were Pac-Mans, and the rest were ghosts, with strawberries and a cherry thrown in for bonus points! I just want to know who won?
