Airforce Recruiter Justin Lackey gave a shout out to Mr. Cary Wright at Galileo. "Mr. Wright teaches a few senior English classes and he likes to start their semester off with a project. The project consisted of having the students write about if they joined a branch which one would they chose and why. Of course there is no better way to learn about the branches than to talk to the recruiters. Even the pandemic didn’t stop this man as he had us join some zooms and that really helped me understand how to present through a google meets visit as well. So thank you for not only helping the students but me as well as we went through some growing pains not being able to be in person at schools for a while," said Lackey. Congrats, Mr. Wright. #GoFalcons

During the 2019-2020 school year, an Anti-Bullying Campaign was launched by Mrs. Lisa Burke at O. T. Bonner Middle School. One of the school-wide activities was an Art Contest where students were challenged to address bullying through art. Although there were numerous amazing entries, the winner of the contest was selected based on a well thought out idea that clearly addressed the topic of bullying, depth of feelings about bullying, and expression. Today, Shaleya Deshazo was recognized as the winner of the Anti-Bully Campaign Poster contest. She received a $25.00 gift card, a medal, and a certificate. Congratulations Shaleya and thank you for creating and sharing your incredible work of art!

The winner chosen for 6th grade was Ms. Trinity Weeks. There were no entries made by 7th grade. The winner chosen for 8th grade was Ms. Shaleya Deshazo. Ms. Shaleya Deshazo was also our grand prize, overall winner with her amazing oil pastel artwork. Congratulations to both of these talented young ladies!
