Last week, the students and faculty at Grove Park Preschool read books by and learned about one of their favorite authors, Dr. Seuss. Lots of fun was had with their special guest readers. Happy Reading from Grove Park Preschool!
The faculty and children have been reading, reading reading! Northside is really showing children the fun in reading books. Practicing comparing math quantities with the book "Ten Apples Up on Top" in Ms. Petty's class and "Wacky Wednesday" in Mrs. Smith's class. Look at the cute socks worn on the day the "Fox in Sox" was read in Mrs. Walker's class. They even had Sheriff Mondul to come to read. What a treat!

At the School Board meeting last Thursday, Lori Cassada and Sharon Barksdale recognized our school bookkeepers for a job well done. During FY2019, we had 15 schools with activity fund bank accounts and 14 school bookkeepers managing those accounts. Every school had ZERO exceptions during the 2019 audits which were conducted by Brown Edwards and Co.
Our school bookkeepers do an outstanding job of caring for the needs of the principals, teachers and staff at their schools. We know that they worked really hard to get these clean audits and we appreciate all that they do on a daily basis. They can’t always do things the easy way, and because they follow the guidelines given to them by the Finance department and the auditors, they are not always the most popular people in their schools. But we thank you for all that you do to be fiscally responsible and to do that work so well in the middle of all the distractions you encounter on a daily basis in your schools.
We thank all of our bookkeepers - we appreciate you! Janet Scott and Lynette Giles (GWHS), Lynette Giles (Langston), Barbara Sexton (Galileo), Ebony Glass (Bonner), Patricia Gunn (Westwood), Kathy Widdifield (Gibson), Hui Crawley (Forest Hills), Tony James (Johnson), Jo Anne Neighbors (Park Ave.), Karen Merricks (Schoolfield), Nicole Toomer (Woodberry), Sallie Rossman (Grove Park/Northside), Crystal Echols (Adult Ed.), Lillie Jacobs (W.W. Moore)
