Virtual streaming of Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf?
Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf?; based on the music of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Don Giovanni, is the newest addition to Virginia Opera's Virtually Amazing Opera digital platform. Written in 2016, this 35-minute opera for children combines several famous fairytales into one, engaging performance:
In a fairytale forest, Little Red Riding Hood, The Three Little Pigs, and The Kid Who Cried Wolf must work together to show the Big Bad Wolf the error of his ways. They must work together for the Wolf to receive his comeuppance and become "The Big Good Wolf." Accompanied by Mozart's famous score, young audiences learn the dangers of bullying, the beauty of friendship, and how to "be the change you wish to see" in the world.
The heart of our digital curriculum is a Google Slides presentation featuring eight Reading Rainbow-style, animated videos that bring the music and story to life. When you request access, you will have access to two ways for you to present this show to your classes:
The Reader's Theater version includes a PDF for your students to perform the dialogue that links the story together!
The Full Audio version is for younger students who may not yet be fluent readers.
Additional resources are included to help you make the most of Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf? and do not hesitate to contact Virginia Opera with any questions.
