The I.W. Taylor Virtual Academy music department (chorus and band) participated in the Danville Christmas Parade on Saturday, Dec. 4.
Galileo grad appointed to national leadership role
This week, Oscar Kemp, a Galileo grad, was appointed to the board of directors of the Council on Social Work Education. VCU highlighted Oscar's achievement in an article.
Preschool students create Christmas Trees
Students in Ms. Petty's class at Northside Preschool are enjoying the Christmas tree Stem activity. They are using Magna-tiles and jingle bells to construct and decorate their trees at the light table.
Mrs. Loubriel's 8th grade Global Studies class researched world holidays, then created a card and presentation for that holiday. See the graphic to the left for their presentations!

Bonner Broncos basketball season in full swing

2022 VSBA Regional Student Art Contest
Attention art teachers! DPS is invited to participate in the VSBA Student Art Contest held in conjunction with the VSBA Regional Spring Network Forum. Elementary kickball games
Recently, GLH Johnson, Woodberry, and Park Avenue worked together to host a kickball game to encourage teamwork and fun among educators. The collaboration has allowed the educators to build relationships with their peers at other schools!
Introducing Park Avenue's new little free library!
The little free library is a share-a-book, take-a-book movement across the country that encourages reading everywhere they pop up. Now, the parents and students of Park Ave have a great little place to pick up something new to read and drop off an old favorite for someone else to enjoy!
Holiday Giveaway at Gibson
On Thursday, December 9, Gibson Elementary held a giveaway of holiday food, clothing and other goods sponsored by community partner God's Final Call and Warning.

DPS staff is reminded to complete their Intent to Return forms, which were emailed to them on Friday, December 10, no later than December 17. Please check your emails for the forms and instructions to fill them out on the new TalentEd system.
Gibson spreads holiday cheer with caroling
On Tuesday afternoon, Gibson administration and staff hit the road after school to make spirits bright in Woodside village. The group, and Santa Claus, caroled and visited with students at the apartment complex.
