Congratulations to Ferrell and his 3 sons, Trey, Terrell, and Tremaine. Ferrell is a proud 1983 graduate of GWHS who went on to play in the NFL. Let's not forget to celebrate Felecia Edmunds, superstar wife and mom - the one who keeps all her young men in check. Ms. Edmunds is a PE teacher at G.L.H. Johnson Elementary School! Such great ambassadors for our community!
The GW Concert Choir performed at the Danville Museum of Fine Arts and History for the Presidents reception on last Friday night. What a wonderful opportunity and such a lovely reception!
Two of our adults and one of our teen students received their GED Credential this past Saturday.
Vania Anderson said that getting her GED Diploma is the best Christmas present that she could receive. She is anxious to continue her education at DCC through the TRIO program.
Kiara Mitchell began her studies with us back in 2016. She quickly passed all her exams except math. She returned to us last month with an intense math review. She also is excited about the gift she gave herself and her four children. Kiara is moving to Lynchburg to take care of her ill mother, but she plans on enrolling in community college and taking night classes.
Our teen GED Graduate declined to be named, but has a bright future. He also plans on attending DCC.
We are very proud of these students and wish them the best.
If you would like to see your picture here as an ACEC Graduate, call Mary Dumont at 434.799.6471. We are here to help you achieve your goals.

Local print master Scott Chaney and his company Piedmont Printing donated business cards to Galileo high school students. The students are writing blogs for their English class taught by Cary Wright. A Middle Border Forward guest speaker, Byron Gunn, brought up the idea of business cards so students can make better connections when they meet a possible blog partner, advertiser or contributor. Scott Chaney and Dagmar Morris created the cards with contact information and custom hashtags for each student blog. #partnershipsmatter

Schoolfield Elementary has been in full swing celebrating the season:
The third grade students presented a special Christmas performance at the December 3rd PTA meeting!
The Schoolfield 4th and 5th grade choir sang at the Institute for Advanced Learning’s “Decorating the Trees for a Cause” and at Ballou Park's Christmas Tree Lighting. The choir also went around the school singing Christmas Carols for various classes.
Schoolfield students continue the yearly tradition of bringing in canned and non-perishable foods to be distributed throughout our community. All together they brought in almost 2000 items! Ms. Woods’ fifth grade class was the winner of a pizza party for bringing in 241 items. Ms. McCrae’s fourth graders brought in 240 items and Ms. Harbodin’s multi-age classroom brought in 215 items! We are so proud of our students and their willingness to be of service to their community.

Dr. Jones and I spread some holiday cheer this morning with our fantastic Maintenance crew. These guys are the hardest working, most lovable bunch there is! Frankie brought me to tears with gifting me a poinsettia. I would say I made out better than the boss did.
Santa and Mrs. Claus visited Johnson’s Church-Based After-School Tutoring Program for 3rd grade. The kids loved it!
