During their regular meeting on August 4, the Danville School Board recognized students that participated in the Summer Internship program. Amber David, Bre'Asia Jones, David King, Jordan Greene, LaNiya Coles, Makaria Myers shared their experiences from their work sites, where they’ve served as interns since June.

The board then held a public hearing on the detailed phase of construction contracts for George Washington High School and Johnson Elementary School.

Chief Operations Officer Dr. Wayne Lyle gave an update on the district readiness action plan, which guides the district’s work for the opening of the new school year.

Chief Financial Officer Andrea Gillus presented the accounts payable warrants for the board’s review.

The board took the following actions:

APPROVED personnel recommendations brought forward by Dr. Halloran
APPROVED the 2022-23 DPS Employee Code of Professionalism
APPROVED the COVID-19 protocols for the 2022-23 school year, which includes…
APPROVED the changes to the following policies: EB School Crisis, Emergency Management, and Medical Emergency Response Plan, EBAA Reporting of Hazards, EBAB Possible Exposure to Viral Infections, and EBB Threat Assessment Teams

Community Food Giveaway at Woodrow Wilson

On Wednesday, God's Final Call and Warning held a community giveaway event with food and other items at Woodrow Wilson. The event is the latest in an initiative to address food insecurity in the city. Danville Public Schools is grateful for this partnership with God's Final Call and Warning to better serve our community.
