At the August 19 meeting of the Danville School Board, Director of Finance Sharon Barksdale presented the proposed calendar for FY23, which follows the budget process from its start on October 1 to the submission of a board-approved budget to City Council in April 2022.
The board also heard an update from Renita Townes regarding COVID protocols for this school year. This year, employees that have been exposed to or tested positive for COVID-19 will have their care directed by their healthcare provider, have a note to return to work, and provide documentation of a positive test. Students will also need documentation from a healthcare professional or a health department note to return to school after an exposure or positive test. Those students needing to stay out of school over a long period of time will be considered for homebound instruction. Contact tracing is done by school nurses, and appropriate notifications will be made. The Daily Dashboard is updated on our website every day.
Director of Federal Title Programs and Instructional Support Catiia Greene informed the board that the division’s Title II, Part A program and activities met program requirements for compliance.
The board took the following actions Thursday evening:
Approved personnel recommendations brought forth by CHRO Dr. Natalie Halloran.
Approved June and July’s finance reports, as well as the accounts payable warrants, brought forth by Barksdale.
Approved the 2021-2022 textbook budget.
Vaccine Clinic
A vaccine clinic focused on the K-12 vaccination needs will take place this Saturday, August 21, at Averett University's Student Center. We encourage our students, families, and staff to consider vaccination in order to stop the spread and keep everyone safe, healthy, and learning in the classroom.
