Canvas Modules serve as an organizational tool aiding instructors in structuring course content based on day, week, unit, topic, or outcome. Use these modules to organize your course content and assignments.

Modules streamline student navigation within a course and maintain a coherent sequence of content.

Quick Module Tutorials

Creating Course Modules

From the Modules page, click "+Module"
Name the module, then click "Add Module"
The module will appear at the bottom of the Modules page

Publishing Course Modules

Only published modules are visible to students. Even if an assignment is published, the module must also be published for student access.
Publish the module by clicking the circle to the right of the module name (it will turn green).

Adding Date Locks or Prerequisites

Prevent Early Access

Option 1: Add a "Lock Until" date. This prevents students from accessing a module before a specific date
Option 2: Add a prerequisite. This prevents learners from accessing the module until prior work is completed.
