There are four types of submissions to select from:
No submission: Student will not submit any work (example: Participation Grade).
Online: Student submits work online, either by upload or text entry.
On Paper: Student will turn in a paper/pencil version in class, and the instructor will manually enter the grade into Canvas.
External Tool: Student will use a 3rd party application to complete the assignment (example: Publisher-created assignments).
Faculty have the option to assign group work for student assignments, with grades given either collectively or individually. Initially, faculty should organize the groups by creating "group sets," specifying the composition and number of groups. Then, these pre-arranged groups can be linked to the assignment.
Step 1: Create Group Set
Select if learnings should have unlimited or limited attempts at assignments
By default, the assignment is given to all students ("Everyone"). However, you can use the dropdown menu to select specific students or groups.
Help students stay on schedule by assigning due dates to their assignments. This will add the assignment to their 'to-do' list and calendar.
Although students can submit assignments past the due date, these will be marked as late.
To control when students can access the material, set "available from" and "until" dates, which lock the assignment outside of these specified times.
