Catalog Description

An exploration of techniques used to acquire, prepare, and process photographs for online use. Emphasis on image sizing, optimization and compression, and basic webpage construction leading to the production o f an online portfolio from a simple gallery to a customized website.

Computer Software:

We will use various software for this class in order to learn how to prepare images for the web and in creating a website. Photoshop, Lightroom, WordPress, Squarespace, and Photobox are some softwares that will be explored. DON'T worry, you don't have to learn all of these. We will also be using instagram and other social media apps.

We will be using videos from lynda.com. The lynda video lessons are free with a San Francisco Library card. You do not have to live in San Francisco to get a library card but you do need to go to a library. Some other libraries may have the same offer so check with your local library.
