Michael J. Griffith Memorial Scholarships Application (Theatre Arts Department)
For students seeking a Theatre Arts Acting Certificate of Achievement or Transfer degree at CCSF
In recognition of Michael J. Griffin, two scholarships will be awarded annually in the Spring to students pursuing a certificate or a transfer degree in Theatre Arts at City College of San Francisco and plans to further their theatre arts education in the future.
Please submit the application through this Google Form.
Due date for Fall 2026 is November 26, 2026 with award announcements made in December 2026.

Complete and submit this Google Form.to include the following:
· How many units of Theatre Arts classes are you currently enrolled in?
· How many units have you earned at CCSF?
· How many of the following courses: (TH A 30, 31, 33, 60, 61, 107, 150, 152, 153, 154, 160, 170, 201, 202, 203, 204) have you completed already?
· Are you pursuing a Certificate of Acting Achievement, and/or a transfer degree in theatre, drama, performance or technical theatre? Do you know where you will apply and when?
· Submit a Personal Statement in the form of a brief essay with a 250-500 word maximum answering the following questions:
1. Outline your theatre arts experiences and goals here at CCSF and beyond
2. How the award of this scholarship will aid you in reaching those goals and include details about your personal dreams, goals and challenges.

QUALIFICATIONS
1. Enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit units at City College.
2. Completion of or enrollment in classes or professional experience of Theatre Arts, BEMA, Cinema preferred.
3. Familiarity with basic video, lighting, editing
4. Interest in or experience in social media, promotion of events, community building
4. Good written and oral communication skills; follows directions but is not afraid to ask clarifying questions. Takes initiative within established job role while understanding limitations of the department aide role.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Maximum of 15 hours per week.

1. Student must be available to support Acting for Camera, Ocean Campus Tuesdays 1400-17.50. Job involves assisting with camera, lighting and basic editing for student on camera projects from beginners to portfolio preparation. Can be enrolled in this class if desired.
2. Student will schedule a f2f or zoom weekly meeting to discuss general department tasks such as supporting live theatre shows, social media campaign and community building for Theatre Arts past and present. This work may happen self scheduled and remotely.
3.Student will lead project creating our new library of plays and resources.
4.Other projects as needed by department such as aiding tech classes or theatre tech.
