Welcome to Personal and Community Health!

Thank you for your interest in taking Health 53: Personal and Community Health. I have taught this course the past several semesters at CCSF Ocean Campus. As your professor, I look forward in sharing my professional work experiences as a Public Health Practitioner for the City of Berkeley Public Health Department and as a Research Assistant for the University of California at San Francisco in the area of HIV. My personal goal is to provide you with both a conceptual and practical understanding of the factors and systems that contribute to personal and community well-being, whether your goals are to continue with higher education or for your own personal interests.

This online course is designed to help you learn personal and community health by reading the assigned textbook materials and by accessing the online resources. In addition, Learner's will be able to share and learn from each other's personal and community health experiences through online discussions and group activities. In order to be successful in this course, you will need to spend approximately 6 plus hours of reading, completing assignments and interacting with other Learner's per week. If this is your first time taking a fully online course, I highly recommend you view the Online Learner video below.

Please do not hesitate to contact me with questions about this course or future courses that I teach.
