For the Fall 2024 semester, some courses at City College will be taught face to face in the physical classroom, although other courses will still be taught virtually. My Fall 2024 courses will be conducted both online using CANVAS and Zoom for virtual class meetings and face-to-face on the Ocean campus. Below you will find more information about my Fall 2024 courses and using Canvas to study online.

The first class meeting will be via Zoom on August 22nd at 6:10 P.M. You can find a link to the Zoom meeting in our ESL 186 Canvas page. You will find information about Canvas and log in procedures below. Please keep in mind that this course is not a fully online class; students are required to attend once weekly Zoom class meetings every Thursday evening from 6:10 - 9:00.
Be sure to check this page again in August; I will be posting the course first day handouts and information about the required textbooks before the Fall 2024 semester starts.

Free Microsoft Office and Keyboarding Skills
To successfully study online, students need to have a knowledge of Microsoft Word and also be able to type well. CCSF provides all students with Word software. Click on the following link to find out how you can access Microsoft Office for Students.
You will be needing to do quite a bit of word processing in your online courses, so it is important to be able to type accurately and at a good speed. Luckily, there are a couple of great websites that you can use to boost your typing speed and accuracy. The following link will take you to links to Websites to Practice Typing.
Also, CCSF offers a number of very helpful Microsoft courses. I have personally taken all of these courses and I can say that they are really helpful. I found them fun too! The skills taught in these classes translate into your work and personal lives as well. You might consider taking one or more of the following courses:
MABS 30: Computer Keyboarding
MABS 101: Microsoft Excel
MABS 391: Word Processing, Microsoft Word
ESL Credit students often need a little extra help in in their English language learning and they can get this help in our ESL language learning lab. Click on the following link which will give you further information about the Center for Language Acquisition and Development or the "CLAD".
