Welcome to Fall 2023!

Hi, CCSF students! I'm Leila Easa, an English instructor who has taught at CCSF on and off since 2002. Originally from Hawaii, I'm a Palestinian-American mom, an author, and a dance teacher in addition to my work teaching English. I strive to bring all of my lived experiences into the class with you, and I hope you will bring yours, too! For the past six years, I've also been a graduate student, so I have some experience of what it's like to navigate classes both online and in person from your side of the classroom. I'm beyond excited to be offering some new sections this fall, and I hope you'll join me so that we can progress through your first semester of English composition online together.  We'll be thinking about, discussing, and writing in response to issues like our relationship to technology, how to protect ourselves from the "attention economy," and how to live a life of "time well spent" in a quickly changing world. Along the way, we'll read a variety of texts, but our primary focus will be on biracial Bay Area author Jenny Odell's book, How to Do Nothing. I'm available if you have questions about the class prior to signing up, but I do urge you to sign up as soon as possible as online classes do fill quickly. Feel free to reach out to me at leasa@ccsf.edu if you have questions—and I look forward to seeing you on Canvas!

Current Online Classes

For Fall 2023, I will be teaching English 1A and 1A with 1AS in the 12-week calendar from 09/25/2023 - 12/19/2023. I'll be adding more information closer to time, but for now  you can read about them on my English 1A page.

You can also take a look at some of my previous classes, including English 1B, Children's and Young Adult Literature (English 54 ), Poetry Writing  (English 35C/D ), and my old 1A syllabus.
