Learn about his work in some of the 32 Significant Natural Resource Areas managed by our Rec and Park Department. These are undeveloped open spaces, remnants of habitat deserving protection for native plants and wildlife that co-evolved with them, including endangered, threatened and significant species.

Greg Gaar is a native San Franciscan, park advocate, photographer and author of San Francisco: A Natural History (available via Rosenberg Library).
His slide presentation with 100 historic photographs will show the evolution of San Francisco's landscape including the creeks, lakes, prairies, trees and bay shore. We will discuss what's been lost, what remains and the importance of habitat restoration for preserving San Francisco's natural heritage.
