Meet the Candidates May 7th at 8:00 at the HS Auditorium
The Mahopac Central School District PTOs will once again be hosting a “Meet the Candidates Night” on Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at approximately 8:00 PM in the Mahopac High School auditorium. This event affords the community the opportunity to meet those individuals seeking an elected seat on the school board. The session will follow a question and answer format. Should you be interested in submitting a question or two for consideration that night, we invite you to complete the attached Google Form by Friday, May 3, 2024. Questions posed to the candidates will be pulled solely from this form. Thank you, in advance, for your participation in this process.

Three (3) seats on the Board of Education are open. The three (3) candidates with the highest number of votes will be sworn in; each to serve a three-year term beginning July 1, 2024 and ending June 30, 2027.

Voter Registration Information:
Qualifications to Register to Vote:
be a United States Citizen
be 18 years old by the time of the vote;
be a resident of the Mahopac Central School District for at least 30 days before the election;
not be in prison or on parole for a felony conviction (unless the parolee is pardoned or restored rights of citizenship);
not be adjudged mentally incompetent by a court;
not claim the right to vote elsewhere.

You may also submit your voter application form at the Department of Motor Vehicles
You can call 1-800-FOR-VOTE hotline to request a voter application.
You can also register to vote at a personal registration on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, from 4 - 7 PM in the Office of the District Clerk at the Mahopac Central District Office, 100 Myrtle Avenue. You must be a resident of the Mahopac Central School District, US citizen, and 18 years old by the time of the election.
Absentee Ballot Applications: to be received no earlier than 30 days prior to election
Military Voters:
Military voters who are not currently registered may apply to register as a qualified voter of the district. Military voters may apply to register with the District Clerk by completing the Military Voter Registration Application and emailing it to District Clerk Melody LaRocca at laroccam@mahopac.org;
Registered Military voters may submit a Military Absentee Ballot Application to receive a military absentee ballot.
Permanently Disabled Voters:
Absentee Ballots for Permanently Disabled voters will be sent out by District Clerk automatically.
Early Voting Voters: New for 2024
Early Voter Applications are available to registered voters who would like to cast their vote prior to election day. Instructions can be found on the second page of the application.
Absentee Voters:
Absentee Ballots Applications are available to registered voters who will not be in the district during the day of the budget vore for reasons below:
(1) absent from the county of his or her residence; or
(2) unable to appear at the polling place because of illness or physical disability, or duties related to the primary care of one or more individuals who are ill or physically disabled, or because he or she will be or is a patient in a hospital; or
(3) an inmate or patient of a veteran’s administration hospital; or
(4) absent from his or her voting residence because he or she is detained in jail awaiting action by a grand jury or awaiting trial, or confined in jail or prison after a conviction for an offense other than a felony, provided that he or she is qualified to vote in the election district of his or her residence.
Absentee Ballot applications are available above or from Melody LaRocca, District Clerk via email at laroccam@mahopac.org. Applications must be received by May 11, 2024 if you are mailing the ballot in. You can also pick up your application at the District Office. Upon receipt of your application, District Clerk will provide an Absentee Ballot for you to cast your vote.
All ballots must be received by the office of the District Clerk, whether they are mailed or hand delivered, by May 21, 2024 at 5:00 p.m.
