The shimmering dragon,
slumbering in the caves of the moon,
is awakened by the footsteps

The silvery eggs,
nestled in the clumpy breccias,
are woken by the stab of the flag

The moon dragon,
roaring at the disturbance,
is not heard through the thick suits

The clamping claws,
pulling the dragon up to the surface,
are not seen by the explorers

The geyser of rock,
signaling the dragon's successful ascent,
is not not seen by the celebrating astro-adventurers

But they all know to run,
when the fire erupts from the strange moon beast,
the spacecraft launches up into the endless black space

The dragon settles back down around her eggs,
content to guard them for eternity,
and the humans vow revenge
