This presentation is all interactive and has the audience motivated to ask questions and make comments. This presentation takes us to the limits of our understanding that we all have biases and we all need to be on a journey to growing our capacity to love others who may be different. We talk about excellence in character, integrity, love, and relationships. We discuss all the excuses that adults make that betray ourselves and our students. We then finish up on how to be a powerful and inspirational leader, a leader that has the courage and commitment to embrace all people and encourage them toward excellence.
Cassidy Reinken
Magnet Coordinator, Johnson STEAM Academy, Cedar Rapids Community School District, IACassidy Reinken is a Magnet Coordinator for the Cedar Rapids Community School District. Before this role, she spent time as an elementary and middle school art teacher, model classroom teacher, building leadership team member, and PLC leader in the District. Recently, she earned her second Master’s degree, an MA in Educational Leadership with Principal Licensure from Drake University. Cassidy believes it is imperative we rethink and innovate in education and beyond so all can be successful. Because our world is drastically changing, she has a sense of urgency to create Leaner-Centered environments that empower learners to be problem finders and solvers today, not tomorrow. Cassidy believes when we provide authentic learning experiences where learners have choice, voice and ownership of their learning that they have the power to make their community and the world a better place.
Jillian Schulte
Magnet Coordinator, Kenwood Leadership Academy, Cedar Rapids Community School District, IAJillian is a Magnet Coordinator in the Cedar Rapids Community School District. Prior to this role, she spent over ten years as an elementary music specialist and PLC Leader. Most recently, she completed a Master of Science in Education (MSE) with Principal Licensure at Drake University. While teaching in the music classroom, Jillian's passion for integrated approaches and inspiring student voice was born. In her current role, she has the opportunity to continue sharing, designing, and co-creating integrated approaches to support student driven learning. She is passionate about cultivating positive relationships to support and empower students and colleagues to lead, learn, and grow!
