Mrs. Boas' Math Class

Welcome to 7th grade math!

7th grade Math Class Policies

Overview

In 7th grade, instructional time will focus on four critical areas:

(1) developing understanding of and applying proportional relationships;

(2) developing understanding of operations with rational numbers and working with expressions and linear equations;

(3) solving problems involving scale drawings and informal geometric constructions, and working with two- and three-dimensional shapes to solve problems involving area, surface area, and volume;

(4) drawing inferences about populations based on samples.

Grading Breakdown

Tests/Projects 45%

Quizzes 35%

Homework 10%

Classwork 10%

Tests

Students will be given a study guide or outline of the topics on the test prior to the testing date. Tests are designed to assess the students’ knowledge and understanding of the material in the unit.

Quizzes

Quizzes will be announced and are meant to assess students’ understanding of parts the objective while we study a unit.

Make up points/Extra credit

Any students who score lower than a 70% on a test can make corrections. The test corrections are due a week after the test is given back. Students should ask for help from the teacher if they need assistance in making corrections. Students can only earn up to a 70% (as their final test grade) once corrections are complete. There will be no extra credit assignments given.

Homework

Homework will be assigned when needed and is due the next day in class. Homework is graded on completion. Late homework (other than an absence) will not be accepted.

Absent work

Always check with your teacher after you are absent. Please come and talk with me or email to find out what you missed.
