Summary:
There are three articles about the Missionaries of Africa (White Fathers) during the Second World War. The first essay is an overall account of the impact of the war on the Society of the Missionaries of Africa (White Fathers). The second essay looks at the fate of three White Father houses of formation: Marienthal in Luxemburg, Sheerenberg in the Netherlands, and Trier in Germany. Finally, there is an annotated list of eighty-three Missionaries of Africa (White Fathers) who died in combat or whose deaths were war-related.

Aylward Shorter (1932-2023) is a British anthologist, PhD in Anthropology (University of Oxford). He is a Catholic missionary priest, member of the Society of the Missionaries of Africa.
