Week 8 2019-20
September 30th-October 4th, 2019
It was fabulous seeing our students share all that they have learned and what they enjoy here at school last Thursday! If for some reason you were not able to make it, an information packet will be coming home in the Tuesday communicator.
Please see the following points for what we will be learning this week.
Reading Skill/Strategy: sequence, chronological order
Whole Group Text: Kids At Work This is one title of many class picture book sets that we will be using this year.
Grammar: complete sentences, run-ons, fragments
Spelling: S/V Menu due Friday, spelling words with the suffix less and vocabulary words
Writing: six-word memoirs and writing process, memoirs are due 10/1, starting an encyclopedia of an ordinary life
40 Book Challenge Letters: Read 30 minutes/night, letters due the week of 10/7
World Cultures: 50 States Slide Show Project due 11/30
Tests: Friday we will test spelling/vocabulary and Mistakes That Worked.
Other Notes of Interest:
-Recorders, recorder books or money are due 10/8
-Fall picture day is 10/10
-See the attached flyer for a WYES movie night on 10/11
-Red Ribbon Week is 10/28 (more information will be shared soon)
- On Oct. 31 at 10 we will be having a variety/talent show where staff and other community members will be performing for our students. If you have a special talent you would like to share with our students in a whole school assembly please contact our School Counselor, Mrs. Keys, at nkeys@madisonschools.k12.va.us.
-Please return Washington D.C field trip permission forms and money. The trip is planned for Nov. 8th.
-Please consider donating to our class fund for Teachers Pay Teachers. Right now they are offering to match donations up to $50.00. Currently, I have $25.00 in donations. This is a great resource for teachers to purchase items that are already created and aligned with what we are teaching.
