The student council is the voice of the student body - a group of dedicated representatives who work to make school life better for everyone.
From planning school dances to organizing community service events, the student council plays a vital role in making the school thrive.
This year, the student council has a new leadership team, new projects and new ideas that will hopefully be implemented to make the school experience more enjoyable.
Last year, there were only 9 members but now with a team of 40 leaders, many new projects are being worked on.
Darius Brewton, or Coach D, is the sponsor of the student council. He said that student council is hard at work to complete certain projects.
“We are working on creating a dance and a talent show for the school,” he said. “The big thing we are working on is having a break during the school day.”
He said this is their long-term goal.
“[We want] to be able to bring back breaks so the students can have a little bit of freedom,” he said.
The student council is working on ways of allowing more breaks for students such as installing a refuel block in our schedules.
Refuel, if implemented, will be a block where students can finish up work, study, and develop socially by hanging out with friends.
While new members aren’t being accepted, students can still help.
If any student would like to leave suggestions for project ideas, they are welcome to do so by dropping off ideas in the suggestion box that will be put up in each pod soon this school year.
