About Your Teachers

Katie Sal

Ms. Sal loves teaching at Sherman! She's been doing so for 15 years and each year is unique! Helping students create integrative, thematic units with authentic audiences makes teaching and learning interesting, challenging, and the best! Ms. Sal lives in Cottage Grove with her husband, Jeff, and three kids- Joe (6), Anna (5), and Marie (5). Outside of school, Ms. Sal enjoys camping and swimming. She struggles to keep up with the weeds overtaking her yard and eats waaay too much take-out food. On the third day of school Ms. Sal will enter her 40s!

She also supports interested students in preparing for the African-American History Challenge Bowl. Ms. Mannenbach lives in Madison, right down the road from Sherman. When she's not at school, she enjoys reading (book recommendations are much appreciated!), baking delicious treats, and spending time with friends and family. She also takes tap and hip-hop classes and is currently working towards her Master's degree.
