My final piece is a floor length dress that is supposed to represent the two sides of Persephone. Persephone is the Greek Goddess of Spring but she is also the wife of Hades which makes her the official Queen of Hell. I wanted to show that even though the two sides of Persephone are complete opposites, they could come together to form a unified piece. Spring is represented through the flower that is sewn on at the top, created with a gel plate technique. Hell is represented through the fiery orange dye on the silk, created by hand dyeing using an ice melt technique. Hell is also represented by the burnt ends of the dress.
