Yiayia Kai Papou

Yiayia kai Papou is an appropriation of American Gothic by Grant Wood. My grandparents toiled in a new land and are very proud of their achievements, so I incorporated smiling images of them to contrast the grim emotion of the original. My grandfather depicted in black and white symbolises the fact that he has passed away. I wanted to create the perception that he is still here, but we can’t see him.
