Sophie's Choice

Students experimented with oil pastels and white Posca markers to draw an abstract self-portrait, taking inspiration from artist Sandra Silberzweig. Students learned about line work, shape and colour, and learned the difference between realistic and abstract portraiture. The portraits were created in contrasting colours and highlighted with bold, black outlines. They were then decorated with patterns to reflect their personalities and were coloured with vibrant primary and tertiary colours.
