Our Environment

This oil painting was inspired by the beauty of the natural environment at our college. Working with my photograph divided into a grid, I painted each square using a variety of techniques and equipment. I left four squares empty and used balsa wood and several techniques to depict close-up sections of the landscape – the texture of timber, the shapes of flowers in the flower beds, and the spiky shapes of grasses in the lawn.
