Acrylic and paint marker on canvas board. This piece represents crossing over. The ground before the stars is the world we live in. The crossing represents moving into the next life, leaving behind the old and stepping into the new. The man represents my personal experience, leaving behind old and embracing the new. The suitcase represents my burdens, what I've been carrying for years and what I must let go of to see the stars.
Students created a sculpture of a prayer rock to guide them on their new journeys. They used some bottles as a base and covered it with clay to get a shape before coating it with mesh tape and plaster. Then it was painted with a sponge and modelling clay flowers were attached. Acrylic gems were also added to represent water droplets in the morning and the prayer was written.
