Isabella’s two smaller works deal with the theme of liminal spaces. Isabella has taken her own photographs in a waiting room at a train station. She has then photocopied the images using a colour copier before transferring these images on to canvas. The images are deliberately imperfect in their representation of a place of transition. This transitional space as well as being physical, also represents emotive moments in between change.
Isabella’s monochromatic portrait is based on her interest in Russian cinema.
The image is of the protagonist Andrei Rublev from a scene from the art house film, titled Andrei Rublev, which was directed by Tarkovsky in 1966.
